Using the Wordless Book

This method of sharing the gospel was designed for children by Child Evangelism Fellowship , and they have an excellent explanation of how to use the wordless book or bracelet on their web site. They suggest starting with the gold page to emphasize God and His love. I learned it dark page first, so that is how I present it here. I have used this with youth as well, not because I thought they were childish, but because it is so easy to remember.

BLACK – Sin separates us from God and makes us unclean before Him, unable to be with Him in heaven. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Rom 6:23); For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Rom 3:23).

RED – Jesus died, shedding His blood, as a sacrifice for us. Then He rose again on the third day. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life John 3:16; For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance that: Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures (1 Cor. 15:3).

WHITE -When we believe that we are made clean before God. Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow (Ps 51:7) That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved (Rom 10:9- 10, 13). He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit (Titus 3:5). I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols (Ezek. 36:25)

GOLD -The result is that we get to be with God in heaven. The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl. The great street of the city was of pure gold, like transparent glass (Rev. 21:21) He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away (Rev 21:3).

GREEN -God also will have a relationship with us now and we will grow in that relationship. But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (2 Pet. 3:18).

I have seen variants of this method which also include the color BLUE – Depending upon one’s tradition this could represent all or some of the following: a person’s first act of obedience, indwelling of the Holy Spirit, a necessary act of the salvation process, and/or dying to sin and being made alive to God. (Matt. 3:15, Act. 2:38, Tit. 3:5, Rom. 6:3-4).
