As we live our lives, every once in a while we find ourselves in these moments of epiphany, where we see more clearly who God is, and in that light, what we can become. I have a great father, but I did not really fully appreciate why God is called “Our Father” in the Bible until I became a father. Through my relationship with my daughter, I see how loving God is, and how loving I can become; both are greater than I previously imagined.

Elisha probably thought he understood the power of God, and desired to become a prophet even greater than his master Elijah. Yet when Elisha saw God take Elijah to heaven in a fiery whirlwind, he was left in shock at the power of the Lord. After that event, Elisha became one of the most powerful men for God recorded in Scripture.

Ask God to reveal himself to you, and perhaps he will also reveal to you a future version of yourself, that is greater than you expected.
